Adding an AML/SDLC Virtual Tape Library
To add an AML/SDLC virtual tape library, follow the steps in Adding a Tape Library. The only differences between adding an ordinary tape library and adding an AML/SDLC tape library are the following:
- Set the Tape Library Type field to ADIC_AML on the Add Tape Library dialog box. This will cause the following:
- Using Slot, Cleaning Slot, and Cleaning Threshold fields become inactive.
- The menu on the Device Type field is disabled.
- The OK button changes to the Test button.
- Enter in the Controller ID field the complete path and file name of the tape library controller device file. For example:
/BackEx/bin/JB/sync_sa0. - Press the Test button in order to update the Device Type field. The device type is pre-defined in the tape library controller. If the device type is successfully updated, the Test button will change back to the OK button. If not, DPX displays a message stating that it is unable to get information for the specified virtual tape library.
