Restore Scenario 2: Disaster Recovery – One GroupWise Server Lost

If only one server with GroupWise services is lost, the restore process is less complicated than Scenario 1. In this case, the restore procedures in Scenario 1 can be used, although step 4 can be skipped. If the GroupWise server with the primary domain information was lost, do the following:

  1. Promote a secondary domain to primary. If a secondary domain does not exist, use the Scenario 1 procedures (except step 4).
  2. Redo and verify all GroupWise domain links based on the new domain topology.
  3. Rebuild the lost domain on the new server.
  4. Change and verify all domain links as necessary.
  5. Promote the restored server’s domain back to primary, if desired.
