Step 8. VMware Restore Wizard: Set Job Options

  1. Use the tabs to set up pre-job and post-job scripts, disk provisioning, and notifications:
  • Source

This tab displays options related to setting up pre-job and post-job scripts and when they are run.

  • Target

This tab displays only for Full VM Restore or Full VMDK Restore.

Disk ProvisioningSelect either Thick or Thin disk provisioning for the new virtual machine. The disk provisioning option is independent of disk provisioning on the original backup source. The default is Thick.
Consolidate VMDK and VM files in one folderSelect Yes for this option if you want the VMDK to be stored with the VM files such as VMX and VMXF files. Selecting No stores the VMDK file in a separate folder, which might be hard to trace. Note that selecting Yes for this option generally increases job run time. The default is No.
  • Notification
The To, Cc, and Bcc fields designate email recipientsOnly one recipient is allowed in the To field. For the Cc and Bcc fields, use semicolons to delimit multiple email addresses.
SubjectThis is a line of text describing the subject of your message. You can embed the following variables for job related fields: %JOBNAME, %JOBID, %JOBTYPE, and %RC (return code). These variables, which must begin with %, are replaced by their actual corresponding values. If you enclose them in double quotation marks, they are treated as literals, not variables.

The following are invalid characters in all fields: < > ; and single quote.

Before reports can be emailed to the designated recipients, ensure that the SMTP Host Name and SMTP Port fields are correct.
