Restoring the Microsoft Hyper-V VM backups (“Full VM Restore”)
To restore the Microsoft Hyper-V assets from a backup, take the following steps with the HTML5-based DPX Management Interface:
- From a supported web browser, log in to the HTML5-based DPX Management Interface.
- From the navigation pane, click Job Manager.
- Click New Restore Job to open the Restore Type pane.
- On the Restore Type pane, select the Type of Restore. Only Full VM Restore is available for Hyper-V nodes.
- Instant VM Restore will recover the virtual machine to the original or an alternate host using LUN mapping of the backup instance to the host storage.
- Full VM Restore will recover the virtual machine to the original or an alternate host, physically transferring the data to the restore target.
- Click Next to open the Object To Restore pane.
- Select the object to be restored. The available objects to restore may be sorted by Name, Type, associated Job Name, the Backup Date/Time, or by Size.
- Click Next to open the Recovery Points pane.
- Select the recovery point to restore. You can select the Latest Recovery Point or one of the other recovery points in the list.
- Click Next to open the Options pane.
- Enter a name for the restore in the Name field (required).
- Custom VM Restore options can be enabled:
- Power on the virtual machine after restoring will power on the restored virtual machine.
- Delete the source virtual machine if it exists.
- Delete the restore job on successful completion.
- Choose the Node Name and specify the Node Path for the Target Host.
- In the Virtual Machine Properties section,
- Click Save to save the New Restore job.
- Click Run to begin the job.
Restore job progress can be viewed on the Job Monitor and the current status is displayed in the HTML5-based DPX Management Interface.
