Restoring Web Applications to Another Farm
In some restore scenarios, you may need to restore a web application to another farm.
To restore Web applications to another farm:

Click the Block option from under the Restore tab. The Restore window appears.

Open the SharePoint application’s virtual node and find databases to restore.
- Identify the name of the database server that hosts the content database.
- Identify the name of the web application’s content database.
The name of the web application will appear in brackets next to the database’s name, as shown in the following illustration:\

Open the database server’s physical node, locate the SQL application, then locate and select the database and the backup instance to restore.

On the destination pane, select the alternate node where you want to restore the database.

Save the backup job and perform a restore.

Using the central administration website or the stsadm command, create a web application on the destination farm and specify the name of the restored database as the name of the content database.
